Venues: Why “Can you email me the details” should be removed from your sales conversations

Hello venue friends! Do you ever hear your team saying “Can you email me the details?”  If so, this episode is for you.   Why is this not recommended?  If you have an event planner on the other end of your phone, they have most likely researched you, decided they like your venue and have taken the time to pick up the phone and have a conversation rather than shoot you an email.   Right now you should be fist pumping the air! Why? Because, you have them on your phone and the best part is, you didn’t have to cold call them to get them there. They willingly called you.   Don’t cut the conversation short by saying “Can you email me the details”  Gahhh, you know what this does to an event manager inside? It makes us feel like you don’t have time to talk through our event, understand our needs and more importantly our concerns.   After all, we are calling to decide whether we would like to add you to our team to help us create a successful event.  By taking extra time on the phone you are able to tailor a proposal to an event planners exact needs and that, my venue friends, is the key to winning their business. Make it easy for an event planner. Include everything they need in your proposal so they don’t have to come back to you with questions. You are the one who had a conversation, you now know more about the event planner and their event, which in turn places you in a better position than the venue that said “Can you email me the details”.   Do you have an opinion on this?   I’d love to hear it, place a comment below and I’ll be sure to reply.  Keep running events, connecting people and changing lives. x Kim     If you liked this video subscribe to our channel and get quick tips and advice delivered straight to your inbox Subscribe to Venue TV Check out our short video on how Venues 2 Events can help you increase your function enquiries   I’D LOVE YOU TO FOLLOW ME: Facebook: http://www.Facebook.com/venues2events My YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com./venues2events

  1. As an Events Producer this phrase makes me feel white hot anger! Especially if the brief has been sent over before the call!
